Kakadu National Park
Kakadu National park is located some 250 kilometres from Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory.
The park consists of some 19000 square kilometres of ancient land, home to the Gagudju people. The park is the ideal destination for visitors seeking more than just a tour but a full blown adventure. Everything about the Kakadu National Park is wild and untamed unless you are talking about the accommodation such as the Gagudju Crocodile Hotel located in Jabiru inside the park.
There is a huge number of tours and safaris of Kakadu National Park that will depart Darwin on a daily basis. These tours will experience different parts of this vast park and each have their benefits. Some of these tours will not be undertaken during the wet season from say December to March as most places such as Ubir and Jim Jim Falls are not accessible die to the floodwaters.
As the floodwaters recede the land comes alive with vegetation and the land takes on a whole new dimension. After a few months the land becomes very dry as rains don't usually fall during the "dry"season and the waterholes become smaller concentrating the birdlife so that this becomes an attraction in itself as Kakadu is home to a vast number of bird species.
